Including for Russian citizens
The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has allowed visa-free entry to the republic for citizens of 35 countries, including Russia, from October 1, 2024. This was announced by the adviser to the Ministry of Tourism of the island state, Harin Fernando. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Australia, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Iran and others are also among the countries for whose citizens visas have been canceled upon entry to Sri Lanka states. As previously reported by the Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority, Russia regularly becomes the leader of the tourist flow. In February, more than 30 thousand Russian tourists arrived on the island, which accounted for 15% of the total influx of foreign visitors. Sri Lanka is also popular with citizens of India, Great Britain and Germany.
