In July 2022, India imposed a ban on the use of 19 categories of disposable plastic products, including glasses and tubes. This measure was the first stage of the state plan to eliminate the use of plastic. Items included in the list are prohibited from being produced, imported, stored and distributed.Manufacturers of plastic products asked the authorities to postpone the ban in order to prevent the loss of jobs at high rates of inflation, but the Indian government refused them.According to the Indian authorities, 4.1 million tons of plastic waste were produced in the country in 2020.
